Hand made at the foot of the Pyrenees mountains in France, each chime is the result of meticulous craftsmanship. We are selling only the Genuine Original Koshi chimes, no shoddy imitations or Asian copies.
Eight precisely tuned metal rods (chimes) are welded with silver into the metal plate at the base of the resonance tube (made from bamboo veneer) to create a chord of clear tones that is rich in overtones. The overtones of the shorter chords gradually dominate and become fundamentals, thus forming a circular tone range.
Move the chime gently holding it by its cord: the crystalline relaxing sound may leave you in quiet wonder. Suspended, it will play with the wind and carry you away in an unexpected melody.
Koshi chimes are instruments with a subtle sweet sound, making them ideal instruments for indoors and for sound baths or sound treatments. But they are not comparable with tubular bell wind chimes or Vienna chimes, which have a more prominent 'louder' sound and can be used outdoors.
The French maker of these chimes says Koshi could be hung outside under an eave, but we recommend to use them only indoors, hanging them near a window. The breeze will waft the delicate sounds through your home – and they will be safe from weather and light fingered admirers.
Koshi measure about 6.5 x 16 cm (2-12 x 6-1/2 inches).
