Keep your Tibetan singing bowls, Burma gongs, Tingsha, Tubular Bells or Tibetan Bells with Dorjee clean and protected with Heaven of Sound's special formulated Organic Singing Bowl Oil!
Singing Bowls, Burma Gongs, Bells and Tingsha require little maintenance, but over time they will react with the oils on your fingers and the oxygen in the air and become smudged and oxidized, or they get dusty, or life happens and you spill something on them. The metals they are made of are quite reactive with other substances, so we recommend a regular cleaning and oiling to protect them and extend their useful life - if you care for your instrument and do not drop it you can expect that your great grandchildren will be enjoying it many years from now. A thin coat of oil protects the singing bowl (or other metal sound instrument) and seals the pores. It gives a nice luster, too.
We have tried many oils for our copper, brass, and bronze sound instruments and found that most oils will interact with the metal of the instrument and leave a tacky residue which is unpleasant to the touch and can stain your fingers and bowl pads. After a long research we have found a pure organic oil that does not react with the metal. From this we have formulated a cleaning oil that leaves your instruments with a clean glow and no residue.
If your singing bowl, gong, bell or tingsha is just lightly soiled, this oil can be used for cleaning directly; just wipe a small amount over the surface and polish off with a soft, not abrasive, dry cloth. If your instrument is heavily soiled, we recommend washing it first with a mild detergent and warm water, followed by a thorough oiling with Heaven of Sound Singing Bowl Oil, always finishing by polishing with a soft cloth.
Some Tibetan singing bowls, like the Bengali style, the black and gold etched bowls and the dark etched bowls will naturally shed color for many years. Their appearance will subtly change and they become more beautiful as they age. We have special polishing cloths for these bowls to avoid smearing the color on other surfaces. We use an oily cloth, then a wiping off cloth and then a polishing cloth on these bowls with good success.
This fine oil can also be used on wood instruments but we recommend that you do not get it on the strings.
Please NEVER use metal polishes or harsh chemicals on your metal sound instrument. They react with the metal and can permanently damage your instrument and alter the certified healing frequency!
This oil is NOT intended for human consumption!
